Tivoli Concert Hall history

Designed by Frits Schlegel and Hans Hansen, the Tivoli Concert Hall came into existence in 1956 and was renovated in 2005.

However, the first Tivoli Gardens concert hall opened in 1843. This initial hall was expanded in 1873 and became known as the Glass Hall.

In 1902, a new concert hall was built in a Moorish architectural style in the Tivoli Gardens.

The building was designed by Knud Arne Petersen and Richard Bergmann, bringing a unique architectural flair to the space.

However, The Tivoli Concert Hall Copenhagen faced a significant setback during World War II.

In June 1944, Tivoli Gardens was struck by Nazi attacks, destroying the Tivoli Concert Hall.

The hall was then rebuilt after the war with a new Modernist design by Frits Schlegel and Hans Hansen.

Their design restored the characteristic color scheme and style of the 1950s while incorporating modern elements.

However, in 2005, the Tivoli Concert Hall underwent a significant renovation and extension.

3XN’s design introduced a circular, three-story pavilion as the main entrance to the Concert Hall.
